The college has an infrastructure built on a sprawling campus spreading over 30 bighas of land at Eraligool with digital classrooms, up to date laboratories, and residential facilities for staff and girl students. It gives me immense pleasure to announce the commencement of the new academic session 2022-2023 of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya (PDUAM), Eraligool, Karimganj. We are proud to inform you that, Karimganj district is one of the partners of establishment of such Govt. Science Model Degree Colleges in the backward region of the state in the year 2017. This Mahavidyalaya has been providing Science education to the rural masses of Karimganj district, who are deprived of getting the advantage of modern science education. It is the endeavour of the Govt. of Assam to fulfil the aspirations of the great visionary Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya for the upliftment of the rural people. In most of the developing countries of the world, higher education is not so easily accessible to the poorer section of the society
However, in India, the government is taking responsibility for imparting higher education to the poor section of the society at their doorsteps. In this scheme of things, the Govt. of Assam has taken initiatives to start more such model colleges to outreach the rural people, who are deprived of modern science education. The Mahavidyalaya had started functioning from the academic session 2017-2018 with a total seat capacity of 200 students in H.S 1st Year (Science) & 200 students in TDC first semester Science (both Honours & Pass course). The Mahavidyalaya has a huge campus with picturesque building situated at Eraligool, 26 kms away from Karimganj town which is reachable by all means of transport. The residential buildings of the academic staff and Girls’ hostel are under different stages of construction and are likely to be completed within this year.
The Govt. of Assam has appointed Dr. Jayasree Chakrabarty as Principal of the Mahavidyalaya, who has an illustrious career at Cotton College, Guwahati and has a quality of dynamic leadership in the field of education.
All the educationists of this region, interested guardians, students and people in general are requested to kindly extend all sort of co-operation in fulfilling the aspiration of quality science education in Karimganj district which is the motto for establishment of this institution of higher education.
With thanks.

It is my proud privilege and satisfaction to announce the beginning of our fifth academic session 2022-2023 at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya (PDUAM), Eraligool, Karimganj. We have successfully completed four academic sessions with the support from all the stakeholders of the Mahavidyalaya. I extend a warm welcome to all the aspiring candidates to the Mahavidyalaya and thank their parents and guardians for choosing our institution for Higher Education.
The Mahavidyalaya was established in the year 2017. This is the first Government Science Model Degree College in the Barak Valley. It is a dream project of the Govt. of India with the financial support from the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Four other Government Model Degree Colleges also launched their academic journey in the same year under the above-mentioned scheme in rural areas of different districts of Assam. Last year, seven other Govt. Model Degree Colleges also started their journey in various districts of Assam. The need of increasing Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education in the educationally backward areas of the country shall be to an extent satisfied through these Mahavidyalayas. The setting up of these institutions has opened up the doors of higher education in the economically and educationally diffident places of Assam.
This Mahavidyalaya became functional from the academic year 2017-2018 with both intermediate and undergraduate courses in as many as six Science subjects, viz. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Statistics along with English and Bengali. The Mahavidyalaya offers Higher Secondary courses (10+2) in Science Stream under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, Bamunimaidam, Guwahati and Bachelor of Science (BSc) courses under Assam University, Silchar. The necessary infrastructure of the Mahavidyalaya such as academic buildings and laboratories for conducting Science courses at the Honours and Pass course level is available.
In the last four academic sessions, we have celebrated all the significant National Days, workshops and several other co-curricular activities that are generally observed in academic institutions. Particularly, during this COVID-19 Pandemic (lockdown) situation, we have conducted several Webinars, out of which there were some special Webinars, such as Webinar on "COVID-19 Pandemic: Sensitization and its Management Strategies for Students", where participants from 19 (nineteen) different States including 02 (two) International countries like Nepal and Bangladesh joined; another one on "3rd Foundation Day Programme of PDUAM, Eraligool, Karimganj", where Shri Diganta Bishwa Sharma, Renowned Scholar of Rishi Aurobindo Philosophy enlightened the Students Community with a topic "Aim in Life and Personality Development" and recent one on "National Education Policy 2020: Education Reforms Paradigm Shift in India", where Dr Ranoj Pegu, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt. of Assam was the Chief Guest and addressed the gallery along with some notable Speakers, where many participants from other states also joined. Amidst the ongoing academic activities, infrastructural development including Principal, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Quarters, Girls’ hostel facility, canteen as well as boundary wall, etc., are in the completion stage. We are also thankful to the Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner, Karimganj cum Founder President, Governing Body of our Mahavidyalaya, Shri P.K. Talukdar, ACS, for providing us an additional five bighas of land for the playground of the Mahavidyalaya. We have set up a gymnasium, where our students and staff can work out and keep them fit. We have also a Computer Laboratory having sufficient number of Computers. Taking a note of the "New Education Policy, 2020" of the Government of India, PDUAM is striving to promote skill-based knowledge, inclusive growth of education, participatory culture and value oriented approach, in addition to its regular courses, in near future. The Mahavidyalaya shall remain ever proactive to develop its academic dimensions in terms of quality teaching, innovative practices and to research to fulfill the requirements of Science education. I feel privileged to inform that we have well-qualified, experienced and energetic teachers dedicated to their profession. I hope that our students will be able to excel in their academic and intellectual pursuits through this institution. Mahavidyalaya has also initiated the Mentor-Mentee system of UGC for the benefit of students.
I, on behalf of the PDUAM family, would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam and Dr Ranoj Pegu, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes (non-BTC), Assam for all infrastructural development including approval of 02 (two) buses for the Students and Staff of the Mahavidyalaya.
